A Rover’s Story was a funny, sometimes sad, and really good book for anyone who loves science. I would recommend this book to people who understand saying goodbye to a friend as it happens many times in this book. It has good humor and many surprises.
Resilience,a rover, is built in a laboratory for a mission to Mars. He goes through many tests and succeeds in all of them. However, he has developed human emotions. He has only one robot to talk to because the hazmats can’t hear him. That robot is Journey, she doesn’t have human emotions and is always right. One day, he is scared and confused because he is transferred to a launching site. While there, he gets a new companion named Fly, who is crazy, funny, and can’t stop asking questions. Soon, they are flown to Mars and start exploring. He worries about him never coming back to Earth and is looking for something to prove that life once existed on Mars. Will they find something extraordinary or get stuck on Mars forever?
My favorite moment in the story was when their robot satellite companion, Guardian, who didn’t have human emotions, started learning them and using them! This book is a really cute fun story and could be good for kids as young as 3rd grade.
