The Odds of Getting Even is a mysterious and intriguing book that’s a part of the Mo and Dale Mysteries series, along with Three Times Lucky and Ghosts of Tupelo Landing. I really liked this book because each time I picked it up, I found that I couldn’t put it down. I’ve read three of the four books in the series so far. Each one keeps getting better and better and I can’t wait to read the last one in the series, the Law of Finders Keepers.

Dale’s dad is on trial for kidnapping Mo’s step parents, The Colonel and Ms. Lana. Unfortunately, as soon as the trial starts, there is a jailbreak and Macon runs free. The next day, Tupelo Landing suffers a crime spree and everyone thinks it is Dale’s dad. Will Dale’s dad get proven guilty, or is there someone else who is behind all the crime? From Lavender almost getting killed in a house fire, to Mo’s biggest enemy, Attila Simpson’s house getting robbed, this book is filled with crazy events and mysteries that will blow your mind.

My favorite part of the book is that it shows that there can be some good in a bad man with what happened with Dale’s dad. I don’t want to write a spoiler, so you will just have to read it to find out! I would recommend this book to anyone in 3rd-6th grade who likes mysteries, adventure, with a lot of crazy humor thrown in.
